October 13. Singer-songwriter Peter Case, who here makes his way back to the Low Beat, hit the Los Angeles rock scene in the late 1970s with protopunk/power pop bands the Nerves and the Breakaways and found further fame in the 1980s with the Plimsouls. (Perhaps you remember their performance of the classic "A Million Miles Away" in Valley Girl.) Case went solo in 1986 and has since moved mainly in a semi-acoustic, story-oriented, folk-based style that's garnered him the reputation of being a "songwriter's songwriter" (no less than Bruce Springsteen is a big admirer). And with good reason his fans are unwavering; when Case was faced with major heart surgery in 2009, a group of them even organized benefit shows to help out with expenses. (Walter Salas-Humara wails October 15; Shonen Knife cuts in November 1.) 7pm. $15. Albany. (518) 432-6572;
