Opening Day Exhibit

2017 is New York State's Year of the Woman and a fine time to highlight creative women in our community's past. The Newburgh Historical Society is opening for the season with a day devoted to the rarely-seen work of three mid-century Newburgh women artists: sculptor Hazel Brill Jackson and painters Cecil K. Jennings and May Palmer Hawkins. Local collectors are loaning their art and those who remember the artists will be on hand to talk about them. The pieces will be displayed on tables and easels around the beautiful 1830 Crawford House.
