West Coast punk-poppers Patsy’s Rats have alt-rock royalty in their blood: Singer and guitarist Patsy Gelb is the daughter of Giant Sand members Howe Gelb and Paula Jean Brown (Brown was also briefly in the Go-Go’s). On April 1, the band will be smearing a little of that blood in Albany, when they check in for a show at Pauly’s Hotel.

Comprised of Gelb and her squeeze, guitarist and singer Christian Blunda (Mean Jeans), and a shifting cast of other players, the band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2015 and relocated to Los Angeles last year. Along the way they’ve racked up a rabid underground following via a string of cassettes and singles on Burger Records and other hip labels.

From 2016, here’s “Rock ’n’ Roll Friend”:

Patsy’s Rats will perform with Chemical Bags and Mystery Girl at Pauly’s Hotel in Albany, New York, on April 1 at 7:30pm. Admission is $7. For more information, call (518) 426-0828 or visit http://www.paulyshotel.com
