Dutch cellist and audio collagist Paul de Jong was half of the indie/experimental pop duo the Books, until the act disbanded in 2011. Since then, de Jong has worked in visual and literary mediums and released two solo albums: 2015’s IF and this year’s You Fucken Sucker. In support of the latter disc, the eccentric musician will perform at Time & Space Limited this Saturday.

Released early last month, You Fucken Sucker is already being called de Jong’s most challenging work to date. The bizarre opus utilizes samples, guest vocal performances, electronics, and abrasive interludes.

Here’s a one-minute album teaser provided by de Jong’s label, Temporary Residence Records:

Paul de Jong will perform at Time & Space Limited in Hudson, New York, on April 13 at 7pm. Tickets are $12.50 ($10 students and TSL members). For more information, call (518) 822-8448 or visit https://timeandspace.org/.
