Poem: Big Orange Store 

for Elias Hart

Here’s the situation—something
Develops out of nothing

A word or thought tumbles
From the polyphonic grid:
Like titanium belt sander or
Progressive impossibilities...

This hits me as I stride through
The big orange store

It hits me that I’m stuck here
In this scene—both

Giddy & beleaguered as
I walk the concrete aisle

As I power-stroke my
Body toward some end
That never nears
