Poem: Entropy

Rust gnaws on a
dilapidated Toyota pickup
while water licks the shell of a
ship reclined on the shallows and the
gulls fret on the froth of the ocean’s churning
deep. The child shrieks when a wave surges up and
chomps down on her grainy castle, dragging its walls and
battlements asunder. The dreamer on the sand knows better.
