Poem: Mike Loves Gail, In a Poem

I am a small
Mike is marrying Gail
this weekend
writer, and I’d like
to tell you why
no catastrophes
no truths no
what life is about
stories. How he met her
(our only hope
is to touch each other)
on the telephone, wrong
number. They are not
survivors of much
except life
breaking neither barriers
nor boundaries.
They live in a trailer
In Freehold, no war-torn city.
Mike said she’s nice
And plump. Gail said Mike
Can fix everything
Even broken birds.
