Pone Ensemble to perform Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire

The Poné Ensemble for New Music will perform Arnold Schoenberg’s monumental song cycle for soprano and quintet, Pierrot Lunaire. Composed in 1912, this daring work was highly controversial at the time and deeply influential on later composers. The Ensemble welcomes guest musicians, conductor Mark Powell, Director of Orchestral Studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, CUNY, and mezzo-soprano Katherin Ciesinski, Professor and Chair of Voice at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Also on the program is Cinq Pièces en Trio For Oboe, Clarinet & Bassoon by eclectic French composer, Jacques Ibert (1890-1962).
