Moon Duo, Garcia Peoples, Jeffrey Alexander

A spinoff of guitarist and vocalist Ripley Johnson's other band, psychedelic warlords Wooden Shjips, the Portland, Oregon-based Moon Duo shares many of the former band's spacey influences (e.g., Can, Hawkwind, Silver Apples). Ripley and synth player Sanae Yamada are sometimes joined by a drummer; at the time of this writing it's not clear if they'll be in trio or true-duo mode when they drone their way into BSP for their first time there. One thing is clear, however: This will be an evening of hypnotic, pulsing waves that will carry attendees to the outer edges of the universe. Open up and say, "Om." With Garcia Peoples and Jeffrey Alexander. (Adult Mom and Fresh visit November 7; BSP presents Xlyouris White at the Beverly December 6.) 7pm. $20, $25. Kingston.

Raven Sings the Blues celebrates 13 years as a music blog with help from Portland's Moon Duo. The group, featuring Ripley Johnson (Wooden Shjips) and Sanae Yamada (Vive La Void) are touring their new LP Stars Are The Light (on Sacred Bones), an album that finds the band pushing their groove-rooted, synth-soaked psychedelia in further and headier directions. Also on the bill are NYC's enigmatic and brilliantly inventive Garcia Peoples and Jeffrey Alexander (Dire Wolves) heading up a new quartet featuring members of Elkhorn and Bardo Pond. Full psychedelic light show, sure to be spectacular!
