RSTB Presents: Moon Duo, Garcia Peoples, Jeffrey Alexander

A spinoff of guitarist and vocalist Ripley Johnson's other band, psychedelic warlords Wooden Shjips, the Portland, Oregon-based Moon Duo shares many of the former band's spacey influences (e.g., Can, Hawkwind, Silver Apples). Ripley and synth player Sanae Yamada are sometimes joined by a drummer; at the time of this writing it's not clear if they'll be in trio or true-duo mode when they drone their way into BSP for their first time there. One thing is clear, however: This will be an evening of hypnotic, pulsing waves that will carry attendees to the outer edges of the universe. Open up and say, "Om." Raven Sings the Blues celebrates 13 years as a music blog with help from Portland's Moon Duo.
