In Celebration of Black History Month Kingston, Circle Creative Collective and MyKingstonKids presents a full day of workshops and experiences for all ages. In the morning come dye upcycled fabrics using local plants. Midday, meet a 5th generation sweetgrass basket weaver from South Carolina who will teach weaving and discuss the history and culture of the Gullah Geechee people. In the afternoon learn to sew a free-form community quilt inspired by Gees Bend quilters, and quilt codes from the Underground Railroad. Join us for community weaving all day! Between workshops, check out P.O.O.K. and Ubaka Hill’s performances and drumming!
