A local volunteer organization formed to unite members of Milan, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Tivoli, and Annandale-on-Hudson who are interested in the protection and management of the Saw Kill and its watershed. The meeting will focus on Earth Day and the Saw Kill watershed. It will start with a brief history of the first Earth Day and how Earth Day and the Saw Kill monitoring project have similar origins in terms of decade and motivation. The discussion will turn to a conversation on Earth Day, Then and Now. Veteran samplers, student scientists, and other community members will share their experiences and look to the work ahead. At the meeting, ways to take action this Earth Day (and beyond) through letter-writing campaigns and other activism will be showcased.
