A sidewalk Astronomer is a documentary film about an amateur astronomer and inventor of the Dobsonian telescope mount, John Dobson. His invention revolutionized astronomy by making large, inexpensive telescopes available to amateur astronomers around the world. The film follows Dobson to state parks, astronomy clubs, and downtown streets as he promotes awareness of astronomy. Dobson is a co-founder of Sidewalk Astronomers, an organization that encourages amateurs to share their telescopes and knowledge with the public.
