Shoah: A Meditation on The Holocaust is an installation by artist Phillip Schwartz at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson, NY. The show is inspired by the Stations of the Cross, the story of the Passion of the Christ told through visual art that has been used for centuries in Christian prayer and meditation. The installation is a combination of egg tempera paintings, icons and textile works. Many of the images in these works are based on open-source photographs housed in the collection of The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. Phillip is a Hudson based artist and iconographer whose work has been shown locally and internationally. His textile work has recently been featured in Fiber Art Now; one of his quilts will be on view at the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, TX from March until August in the exhibition, "Excellence in Quilts." His work is also included in an exhibition at The Center of Exploratory and Perceptual Art (CEPA) in Buffalo, NY entitled "The Power of Resilience and Hope: Photography and The Holocaust: Then and Now.".

Shoah: A Meditation on the Holocaust opens at Christ Church Episcopal, 431 Union Street, Hudson, NY 12534 on January 27, which is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, a date that is observed as a day of Holocaust remembrance internationally. There will be an opening reception from 5pm -7pm. The installation will be on view through Sunday February 11th. Open Sundays 12-4, Thursday- Saturday 4pm -7pm and by appointment.
