directed by Richard E. Norman and starring Laurence Criner and Kathryn Boyd, "The Flying Ace" tells the tale of a young African American pilot who returns stateside after flying and fighting for France during World War I.
The story behind the film - during World War I, African Americans joined and trained to fly in the French squadrons. The female lead is based on the African-American aviator Bessie Colman.
