Sogetsu Ikebana Workshop: Basic Upright Arrangement

Using three main or shushi stems, Shin being the longest stem, Soe as the second longest stem (usually of branch materials), and Hikae as the shortest stem (usually a flower), students will design their own upright style to be arranged. The instructor will demonstrate the proportionate length of the main stems to the container and the different angles used to create the relationship among the branches and flowers through diagrams and sample arrangements.
