SRBP Lecture Series: Hudson River Painters, Then and Now

When: Wed., Feb. 3, 7-8:30 p.m. 2016
Phone: (845) 255-0919
With Chris Bowser, Education Specialist with NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program, National Estuarine Research Reserve, and Cornell Water Resource Institute. The famous nineteenth century artists from our region did more than just paint pretty landscapes; they were among the new country’s first environmental educators and advocates. Today’s artists continue using nature and the environment to pose tough questions and expose new ways of thinking. This lecture will be one part art history, and several parts of your own interpretation of both old and new works.
