The village of Saugerties hosts a St. Patrick's Day themed First Friday on March 1, complete with live music, art exhibits, traditional Irish food, and shopping specials. Saugerties began celebrating First Fridays last Spring, and I have been to almost every one of them since. I love the festivity and fun in the air.
The festivities begin at 5pm. Partition Street Wine will have Spring-is-Coming Wine Tastings and live Celtic music. The Light House Home & Home Entertaining Essentials shop will offer Irish coffee, corned beef tastings, and Celtic tattoos. The Dutch Ale House always has Guinness, shepherd's pie, and an official countdown to St. Patrick's Day clock. Dig will have Spring sales, and Juda Leah will host Fashion's Night Out, an art and fashion show. For more information on Saugerites First Fridays, visit their Facebook page or contact Saugerties dynamos Diane Dwyer from Imogen Holloway Gallery (which will host an artist's reception for the exhibit "Bent" from 6-9pm) or Rae Stang at Lucky Chocolates (which will have a chocolate fountain set up). Don't forget to wear green!
