Detail image of "Falcon and Turtle", 2021, linocut and polyester lithography with ink, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel on marbled gray paper, 31 x 49.5” by T. Klacsmann
My work offers an alternative perspective to viewpoints that see animals and the environment primarily in terms of their usefulness to human-kind. I try to capture the consciousness of animals as they exist independently from, but intermingled with humanity. In every scene, I include evidence of human habitation such as vehicles, trash, or architecture to show how land and animals are inextricably linked to human consumption and also exist independently from human’s ability to extract use from them. On view April 9 – May 8, 2022. Hours: Thursday – Monday, 11-5. Closed on Sunday April 17th. 57 Main Street Chatham NY
