The Clean Water Act at 50

An Act to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, known as the Clean Water Act, was a landmark piece of environmental legislation, which went into effect Oct. 18, 1972, when the house overrode Richard Nixon’s veto. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of a framework for protecting the nations waterways, it’s clear that there is still much work to be done.
