June Squibb plays a grandmother on a mission in this action film satire.
Oscar-nominated actress June Squibb is Thelma Post, a sweet 93-year-old who gets duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson. Without a second thought, she sets out on an ill-conceived quest across the city to reclaim her money. In this refreshing twist on the action genre, Squibb's nonagenarian leading lady gets to take on the thugs, and her family, in hilarious, age-appropriate ways. Inspired by a real-life experience of Director Josh Margolin's own grandmother, this is the first leading role in Squibb's 70-year career. Richard Roundtree (Shaft) co-stars in his final role before his death last fall.
