WHEN: Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: BSP, at 323 Wall St., Kingston
DETAILS: Activist and playwright Eve Ensler featured at September 17 event.
TMI Project, a Hudson Valley based non-profit organization offering transformative memoir workshops and performances, will honor playwright and activist Eve Ensler, author of “The Vagina Monologues” and founder of VDay and One Billion Rising at a performance of “Voices in Action,” which features performances by participants in TMI Project workshops. Founded by Eva Tenuto and Julie Novak, TMI Project offers participants the opportunity to share the “too much information” parts of their stories, the parts the usually leave out because they’re too painful or embarrassing. The lineup will include participants from workshops led by Tenuto and TMI Project’s editorial director, Sari Botton, with Bottomless Closet, a New York City-based organization that helps women moving beyond domestic violence, drug abuse, homelessness, incarceration, and poverty; men and women from a workshop at the Mental Health Association of Ulster County; and at-risk teens from a workshop at Hudson Valley Pathways Academy (P-Tech) High School. They will all be performing true monologues that they created in those workshops. At the event, Ensler will be awarded the organization’s first annual Voices in Action Award for her work with storytelling as activism.
Tickets for the show are $25 in advance or $40 at the door; and $75 in advance or $100 at the door with a post-performance reception for Ensler.
