From quaint country farmhouses and picturesque mansions to industrial garages and restorative spas, Ulster County has some of the best wedding venues in the Hudson Valley. Here, you’ll find historic places that will wrap you in the elegant nostalgia of bygone eras, rustic venues to sweep you away on a romantic adventure, trendy venues where you can let loose a bit, and everything in between.

Whether you’re looking to get hitched and enjoy a small gathering of your closest family and friends or you’re more the “let’s throw a bash and invite everyone we know” type, we’ve rounded up the best venues in and around Kingston, Saugerties, Milton, and beyond that you’ll want to consider for your special day; and trust us—there’s something for everyone.

Onteora Mountain House

Surrounded by a 200-acre forest in the Catskill Mountain Preserve and overlooking the Esopus Valley, Onteora Mountain House is a 92-year-old Adirondack-style home that was once the summer getaway of mayonnaise guru Richard Hellmann. Enjoy your ceremony on the 90-foot deck perched on the side of Mount Tycetonik, and dance the night away in the heavy-timber, 3,600-square-foot pavilion. This venue has a variety of onsite guest accommodations, including seven charming guest rooms, and is open for wedding bookings from May through October. The grounds allow for anywhere between 80 to 180 guests.

Senate Garage

This vintage-style, ’20s-era Kingston wedding venue boasts 7,500 square feet of open space enclosed by dusty-red brick walls, concrete floors, and exposed ceilings. With the Senate Garage’s industrial-yet-warm canvas, it’s easy to make the place your own. Celebrate with your family and friends amid industrial pendant lights, charming gardens, and a makeshift alley of string lights that whimsically connect a line of trees to the building’s old-timey façade. Senate Garage works exclusively with farm-to-table chefs at Bridge Creek Catering, and the facilities can accommodate up to 260 seated and 400 standing guests.

Hutton Brickyards

Also in Kingston, Hutton Brickyards features 76 acres with riverfront views and an eclectic mix of Industrial Revolution-age relics and modern pavilions set against a breathtaking natural scenery. Located among the historic remnants of a brick manufacturing facility that provided building materials for distinguished architecture such as the Empire State Building and Yankee Stadium, this Kingston wedding venue is not only a premiere place for your nuptials but is also a bustling social and cultural hotspot that hosts concerts, festivals, and other events. Sleep and rest in safari-style wall tents, snap photos in front of an old Lidgerwood crane, and explore the ruins of the remaining steel-framed kilns.

Indian Ridge

If you’re looking for the quintessential Hudson Valley country wedding, this Highland venue is for you. Roam Indian Ridge’s apple orchards and sprawling wildflower gardens and get married under an elegant, brightly lit tent with a striking backdrop of the countryside. Indian Ridge is part way through construction of a new barn that should be available later this year, and they also offer a range of indoor facilities, including a 3,800-square-foot lodge, a charming ranch, and a stone and timber dining area for smaller weddings with up to 80 guests.

Barn on the Pond

For an intimate wedding where one can get hitched then kick back and relax, Barn on the Pond features a luxurious, fully renovated barn that sleeps 12 of your closest friends and family members. Get married by the pond then enjoy the stone firepit, wetlands, and wildflower meadow for your photos and reception. A few of your guests can shack up in the heated vintage Airstream trailer, or in the main lodging area, cook delicious meals in a gourmet kitchen, recline in the great room, mix drinks at the wet bar, and peruse the fully stocked library. For your wedding and ceremony, you can invite between 70 and 80 guests and rent a large tent directly from the venue, but keep in mind you will need to provide the catering, music, florals, and decor.

Foxfire Mountain House

At Foxfire Mountain House, wedding revelers can sip cocktails atop a Moroccan-tiled veranda, stroll about the lily pool, or play horseshoes and bocce ball in the yard. Nestled in the Catskills among 10 private acres, this 100-year-old, rustic-meets-Bohemian inn has 11 guest rooms featuring craftsman-made beds with high-end linens, and is known for serving Nordic-style breakfasts, complete with house-made granola, fresh-baked banana bread, soft cheeses, and smoked fish. Although the house can sleep up to 28, you can invite up to 150 for the ceremony and reception. An on-staff director of events will help you plan every detail, and you can also rent a variety of benches, chairs, tables, dinnerware, and linens from this highly Instagram-ready venue.

Liberty View Farm

Marry, celebrate, and lodge for three nights at the Liberty View Farm in Highland and enjoy their gardens, stone structures, quaint barns, and variety of farm animals. They offer fresh seasonal flowers and beyond-organic produce grown onsite, and can also provide tables, linens, mixed-and-matched antique china, and bud vases. When you stay on the property, you are welcome to roam the arbors, flower gardens, and edible landscape, all while taking in the spectacular Catskill Mountain views. The farm hosts just 10 weddings per year so staff can dedicate their time to ensuring your satisfaction. Receptions can accommodate up to 400 guests and can take place either in a barn or large custom-made tent that are both absolutely magical when lit at night.

Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa

Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa in Milton is a refreshing mix of scenic beauty, adorable animals, and delicious farm-fresh food enhanced with the benefits of rest and relaxation. Enjoy a massage and facial with your wedding party before having lunch and cocktails by the indoor pool. On the 75-acre property, you’ll also find a livestock barn, aviary house, and an organic kitchen garden used to create their farm-to-table meals. The inn offers 18 guest rooms, four carriage house suites, the North Cottage, and the new Riverknoll House, comfortably sleeping about 50 guests. Their onsite restaurant, Henry’s on the Farm, caters all receptions, which are held on a large patio overlooking the Hudson River and in a warmly lit barn.

Hasbrouck House

Perched along Main Street in Stone Ridge, the historic Hasbrouck House is a relic of 18th-century Dutch Colonial architecture, with gray cobblestone and fireplaces galore. The mansion was awarded “The Americas’ Most Romantic Retreat” by the World Boutique Hotel Awards. The gorgeous grounds, complete with a 100-year-old inground pool, private lake, and rambling gardens, and woods are testament to this choice. Ceremonies take place on the lawn near a centuries-old maple tree, and the facility’s New American restaurant, Butterfield, caters the receptions, serving delectable dishes like steamed mussels, foraged mushroom risotto, and slow-cooked beef stew.
