The walk will explore how the landscape was designed to reflect the wealth and taste of Staatsburgh’s owners, while deliberately hiding all the labor that made the good life possible. Staatsburgh’s grounds were designed in the English landscape garden style, reflecting its owners’ admiration of the lifestyle of the English landed gentry. Staatsburgh’s sweeping lawns, tree-lined carriage drives and river view are all signature elements of an English landscape garden.
