In 1993 South Africa was in flames from political violence. As the apartheid government refused to transition to a nonracial democracy, thousands lined the streets around Durban City Hall to attend the original “When Voices Meet” concert with its 500+ multicultural children's choir. The film chronicles the historic journey and brings the children back 20 years later to reflect on the experience and how it transformed them and their nation. In July, a multiracial, multi-ethnic American version will wind from Ferguson and St. Louis to Washington DC., with help from funds raised at this event.
