On Tuesday of this week I posted about the exclusive download Amy Helm is offering through her website to support causes her father, Levon Helm, actively supported. Well, right here I’d like to make you aware of another effort Levon would’ve surely endorsed, one that helps a worthy endeavor, also features Amy and other leading local musical names, and honors the late Band drummer’s best-known friend and collaborator.

To benefit the Woodstock Day School, on May 26 the Bearsville Theater will host the 2013 Woodstock Soundout concert, which will celebrate the music and 72nd birthday of Bob Dylan with performances by Amy Helm, Happy Traum, Donald Fagen, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Tracy Bonham, Jay Collins, Tim Moore, Marco Benevento, Dave Dreiwitz, Jerry Marotta, A.C. Newman of the New Pornographers, Jim Weider, Doug Yoel, Jan Scarpantoni, Connor Kennedy, and many more guests to be announced.

Here’s a video of Traum, Campbell, and others performing Dylan’s “Buckets of Rain” at last year’s event:

The concert takes its name from the original Soundouts, which took place locally in the late 1960s and inspired promoter Michael Lang to stage the legendary 1969 Woodstock concert. Tickets are $100 Golden Circle, $40 reserved seating, $25 general admission (standing). To purchase tickets and learn more, visit Radiowoodstock.com or call (845) 679-7600.
