Vernon Benjamin will discuss his Overlook Press volumes on the Hudson Valley, the first published in 2014, From Wilderness to the Civil War and the second forthcoming August 16, From the Civil War to Modern Times. He will include particulars of his Woodstock history and his friendships with Alf Evers, Peter Mayer, and Maurice Hinchey, and topics broadly entitled Byrdcliffe and the Maverick, which include the rise of arts and culture within the larger valley context.
