Tucked inside the Hudson Market on Main—a sweet cafe inside the Rockland Community College’s Hospitality & Culinary Arts Center—the visitors center offers maps and brochures of shopping, dining, nightlife, and recreational attractions in Nyack and throughout Rockland County and the Lower Hudson Valley. Free parking is available in the lot behind the building during your visit to the center. Situated at the corner of Broadway and Main Street, the visitors center is a well-located launch pad for your adventures.

You’re bound to discover there are more things to do in Nyack than you can fit in a single day, or even a weekend. Self-guided walking tours help you discover the village’s history and beautiful architecture. Well-marked bicycle routes lead you down to the river and over to the new Bridge Path, which has six different overlooks boasting panoramic views of the Hudson. Check a few gifts off your holiday shopping list (or treat yourself—you deserve it) at one of the many independent retail shops along Main Street and Broadway. Snag some graphic novels or action figures for the comic book lover in your life at Funny Business, or a handmade ceramic planter and a new houseplant from Bridge Street Botanical. At Archive Home, housewares, vintage clothing, and artisan-made share the spotlight.

Or maybe you’re feeling woodsy. A hike at Hook Mountain State Park at this time of year offers a spectacular leaf show, plus panoramic vistas of the Hudson, and the second-highest summit along the Palisades ridge. Discover a new favorite restaurant—the visitors center stocks menus for some local eateries, so you can peruse before walking anywhere. Maybe you’re feeling up for the Mediterranean small plates and cocktails at Greek-ish. Or maybe it's the night for a Maharashtrian meal at Mumbai Dreams. Nyack also has ample opportunities to enjoy live music and theater, or just relax on the river with a soothing chartered boat tour.
