From the outside, The Wild Kitchen & Bar on Beacon’s Main Street hums with energy—warm lighting spilling through wide windows, guests drifting between indoor tables and the small, leafy patio out front. Step inside, and you’ll find a room that feels as if it was designed to hold conversation: airy and uncluttered, with a natural ease that mirrors the food.
The Wild is the latest concept from the team behind Kitchen & Coffee, the gluten-free cafe and community hub a few blocks away. Like its sibling, The Wild emphasizes inclusivity and intention, but it stretches the idea further into the hospitality space as part farm-to-table restaurant, part cocktail bar, and part social space. At its core is a commitment to fresh, seasonal ingredients from Titusville Farm, the team’s own Hudson Valley property in Poughkeepsie. The menu is largely vegetarian, complemented by sustainable seafood and thoughtfully sourced local meats. And, just as at Kitchen & Coffee, everything here is completely gluten-free.
By day, The Wild functions as a kind of casual canteen, a spot for a fast but wholesome lunch where hearty bowls anchor the counter-service menu. In the evening, though, it comes into its own. Dinner is full service, with shareable plates and entrees that read like a love letter to vegetables, each dish composed with the sort of balance that comes from real care.
Charred shishito peppers arrive glossy and blistered, ready to be dipped into smoky nori aioli ($11). A simple cabbage is transformed by miso butter, crispy rice, and a scattering of chives ($17). Seasonal egg noodles are tossed with asparagus and arugula pesto ($28), while summer squash shines with pistachio pistou and ricotta salata ($12). Even when meat appears—brick chicken with salsa verde ($32), steelhead trout with heirloom tomatoes ($34)—it plays a supporting role to the flavors of the season.

In the kitchen, executive chef Angelyne Schofield brings a plant-forward sensibility, supported by head baker Jonathan Leman, Elizabeth Teachout, and Jade Leman—all part of the extended Kitchen & Coffee family. Together, they’ve built a restaurant that adds depth to Beacon’s already dynamic dining landscape.
If the food is grounded in the farm, the drinks are where The Wild stretches its wings under the able direction of mixologist galore Jessica Gonzalez, who was part of the opening staff of New York’s acclaimed cocktail bar, Death & Company, and has slung drinks at other iconic spots like Nomad. The Wild bills itself as “a new style of cocktail and elixir bar,” with a beverage program built by a rare mix of award-winning bartenders, herbalists, and tea experts. Alongside high-level cocktails, you’ll find non-alcoholic elixirs and tonics made with cold-pressed juices, a cider list that emphasizes local makers, and natural and biodynamic wines.
Elixirs (all $12) include the summery Fresa Fresca with NA tequila, strawberry, balsamic, and lime and the tropical Coconut Grove with coconut, guava, lime, cinnamon. For something a little lighter, the Green light features green tea, kombucha, lime, and NA spirit Seedlip. The seven house cocktails (all $16) embrace alcohol with offerings ranging from the Galloway Park Swizzle with Scotch, amontillado sherry, falernum, ginger, lemon, mint, and bitters; and The Last Man Standing, a gin martini with a whopping 20% ABV, featuring pickled tomato and a lemon twist. A less expected offering is the All Dirt Candy, with bourbon, carrot, lemon, vanilla, and bitter. As more and more people seek alternatives to alcohol, The Wild’s bar program feels inclusive, inventive, and forward-thinking.
The setting itself reinforces the vision. The Wild occupies a once-vacant corner lot at Main and Schenck in the eastern historic district. With its tall windows, industrial nods, and abundance of natural light, the space feels at once rooted in Beacon’s past and tailored for its present. The upstairs space doubles as a social club and event venue, hosting yoga, meditation, and wellness workshops alongside private gatherings. It’s the kind of hybrid that feels right for this town: a restaurant that’s also a meeting place, a cocktail bar that doubles as a hub for neighbors.
Open seven days a week, the restaurant accommodates both rhythms of daily life: fast-casual lunches for a quick, nourishing bite, and a slower, more intentional full-service dinner that encourages sharing, conversation, and lingering.
The Wild is open for lunch from 11am-4pm daily, and for dinner on Wednesday-Sunday, 5-9pm.
