Hudson Hall has named choreographer and cultural organizer Adam Weinert as its next executive director. A longtime resident of Hudson and a familiar face in the regionโs creative scene, Weinert steps into the role following the departure of Tambra Dillon, whose 13-year tenure oversaw the landmark restoration of New York Stateโs oldest surviving theater and the expansion of Hudson Hallโs programming into a year-round cultural powerhouse.
Weinertโs connection to Hudson Hall dates back more than a decade, beginning with a 2014 artist residency to develop Monument, a dance work that premiered at Jacobโs Pillow and later toured internationally. He went on to direct the locally beloved holiday production “Rip the Nut” and co-found Waterfront Wednesdays, a free community series on the Hudson riverfront.
โMy relationship with Hudson Hall began over 10 years ago, and itโs remained a creative home ever since,โ says Weinert. โStepping into this role is deeply meaningful.โ
Weinert brings a hybrid background in performance, administration, and community engagement. He previously served as artistic associate at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, executive director of the Hudson Sloop Club, chair of the Hudson Arts Coalition, and COO of the Tiger House hotel. In 2020, he launched Jacobโs Garden, a working farm and public art project at Jacobโs Pillow.
โAdam brings a rare combination of visionary artistry and demonstrated leadership,โ says Paul Barrett, President of Hudson Hallโs Board. โHe has a proven ability to connect with community members, support fellow artists, and manage complex programs with creativity and care.โ
A graduate of the Juilliard School and NYUโs Gallatin School, Weinert has presented work at MoMA, Tate Modern, and the Palais Garnier, and has written for the New York Times and PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art. He is a Bessie Award Honoree.
Dillon, who will work alongside Weinert during a summer transition, expressed confidence in the appointment. โAdam brings fresh energy, deep local knowledge, and a heartfelt commitment to Hudson Hallโs mission as a civic partner and creative hub for our community.โ
Weinert will assume the executive directorship full-time this fall.
