After the pandemic shuttered Sweet Sue's for two years, the longtime Phoenicia favorite is finally back under new management. But don't worry, the new owners bought Sue's famous pancake recipes, which return to the griddle for the first time today, complement the expanded menu of diner-adjacent breakfast fare and a house smoked meats program.

In discomforting times, comfort food reigns supreme. As the temps continue to drop and outdoor dining become more infrequent, it’s the restaurants still offering a taste of something aspirational grounded by the blessedly familiar that continue to draw us in—a much-needed respite from our home-cooking routines. That’s exactly what’s on order at Bia, the Irish-inflected bistro in Rhinebeck that opened in 2019.

Despite the profusion of restaurants in and around Woodstock, except for Silvia’s Korean-inflected fine dining, there is little in the area that represents or caters to the Asian diaspora. Recent Bay Area transplants Eva Tringali and Christina Mauricio are aiming to fill this hole in local cuisine and provisions with Harana Market, an Asian grocer and Filipino deli in Mount Tremper, which will debut mid-November.
