Jonny Couch Gets Comfy at Colony | Daily Dose | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine
Jonny Couch
A veteran of the New York and Pittsburgh punk scenes, rocker Jonny Couch has spent most of his musical years on the drum stool, keeping the beat for such bands as the Napalm Stars, the Choke, and Cynics singer Michael Kastelic’s short-lived Honeyburst. Recently, Couch has come from behind the kit to front his own outfit, which he’ll bring to Colony next Friday.

On Animal Instinct, Couch’s 2016 debut EP, the singer and multi-instrumentalist plays drums, organ, and synthesizer on all five tracks. Recorded in Savannah, Georgia, with producer Peter Mavrogeorgis (Panther Burns, Alice Texas, Bellmer Dolls), the sound of Animal Instinct has been described as “a leather-capped New Romantic disguised as Brando-Elvis belting out anthemic heartbreak missives of pain.”
