Congratulations! You’re getting married! Following the proposal, picking a wedding venue is the next important step in planning your big day. You need to find one that fits your budget and the amount of guests you want to have. Fortunately, the Hudson Valley is filled with wineries and breweries that are also located on some of the most beautiful properties, making it a perfect wedding destination. Whether you want a formal, catered wedding, or an outdoor party where your guests walk barefoot in the grass and play cornhole, here are just some options to consider.

Plan Bee Farm Brewery

Located on a 25-acre working farm set on a hill in Poughkeepsie, Plan Bee Farm Brewery has a renovated 200-year-old barn as a brew house and tap room. “It’s a beautiful space and we have great views on all sides,” says Emily Watson, co-owner of Plan Bee.

If you are looking for an outdoor, laid-back feeling to a wedding, this is the place. “We use hay bales as seats for the ceremony and the food comes from food trucks. It’s for a clientele that wants a more laid-back feeling playing cornhole and hanging outside with their friends and family,” says Watson. The venue accommodates up to 100 guests.

Arrowood Farms

Located of the beaten path in Accord, Arrowood Farms is a farm, brewery, and wedding venue that gives you not one, but three options to choose from to accommodate a smaller gathering or larger event up to 125 guests. They have an open-air pavilion, outdoor bar, duck pond, hop yard, and meadow for outdoor fun or the brewery and tasting room for an indoor celebration. A food truck is also available at the taproom to serve from a seasonal menu. They have their own wedding coordinator on staff to help you plan all the details of the big day as well.

Red Maple Vineyard

Six months before your big day, Red Maple Vineyard plants the ingredients for your chosen menu. Located in West Park, this farm-to-table and drink-to-table event space has a fully renovated 1800s cow barn and a fruit and vegetable garden. Surrounding the vineyard is 143 scenic acres, a perfect backdrop for wedding day pictures. The venue accommodates up to 280 guests. “We also provide a list of vetted DJs, bands, photographers, makeup artists, and other vendors,” says owner Gary Stone.

Clinton Vineyards

Clinton Vineyards was established in 1976 by Ben Feder, a Bronx-born book designer who fell in love with the Mid-Hudson Valley and began building his dream. “There is a romance about this site and the grounds are just spectacular,” says owner Phyllis Feder.

If your dream is to exchange vows on this stunning 100-acre vineyard and winery located in Clinton Corners, take note that they do not provide catering services. “However, we do help to coordinate all the elements of a successful wedding,” says Feder. She stresses that any wedding held on the site will adhere to the CDC guidelines on gatherings, but even post-pandemic will not be larger than 125 people.

City Winery

Located in Orange County, the 130-year-old historic Montgomery Mill is the home of the recently opened City Winery, which has a whopping 15,000 square feet of space that can accommodate up to 400 guests. Couples may find it hard to choose from the mill deluxe, beautiful waterfall, or the vineyard as the perfect wedding venue, but there’s no wrong choice on this 22-acre winery that overlooks the Wallkill River.

Unsure if it’s the right location for you? Spend a night in their renovated 1920s barn, which has three furnished suites with windows overlooking the Montgomery Worsted Mill.

Most venues are sold out for 2021 weddings and advise that you act quickly on 2022 dates. The pandemic canceled many weddings for this year and those weddings have already rebooked dates for next year.
