A few years ago, Ruggable appeared on the market seemingly overnight, with ads for their machine-washable, two-part rugs everywhere. Now a firmly established household name, Ruggable is launching its latest collection, Kindred Cottage, inspired by the romance, landscape, and design of the Hudson Valley.
“Our team has always been drawn to places with a strong sense of history and craft, and the Hudson Valley has been a touchpoint for us for years,” says Maria O’Brien, VP of Design. “Several members of our design team spend time in the region, whether thatโs visiting friends, staying at local inns, or exploring the antique shops and small towns that give the area its character.”

The 24-piece Kindred Cottage line blends regional influences both natural and manmade. “For us, the magic of the Hudson Valley lies in how its architecture and natural landscape speak to each other. We drew inspiration from both equally,” O’Brien says. “The regionโs historic inns and storied hotels offered examples of cozy layering, vintage textiles, and collected details that shaped the patterns and textures in this collection. At the same time, the valleyโs moody palettes, shifting seasons, and golden light informed our color stories.” The team studied plaids, hand-drawn florals, and quilted motifs found throuhgout the region, while also taking cues from the forests, rolling hills, and natural landscapes. “Kindred Cottage emerged as a blend of these influences,” O’Brien says, “the romance of the landscape paired with the intimacy and craftsmanship of the interiors, resulting in pieces that feel intentional and enduring.”
The timeless designs would be equally at home in an old inn, a well-kept homestead, or a Contemporary house. The collection, while restrained, manages a playful nod to โgrandma-coreโ charm while keeping one foot firmly planted in the clean, design-forward aesthetic Ruggable is known for. “Thereโs an artistry to the Hudson Valley that feels both familiar and inspiring, and it continues to shape our approach to design at Ruggable,” O’Brien says.

The Kindred Cottage line also debuts Ruggableโs new Tufted All-In-One technology, rather than their classic, flatweave two-piece rugs. This new technology is suprisingly thin and lightweight, while also being soft underfoot, durable enough for kid- and pet-dense households, non-slip, and fully machine-washable.
The colorways were selected with the valleyโs seasons in mind. “We gravitated toward hues that felt grounded and timeless: deep woodland greens, dusky blues, warm clays, and soft neutrals,” says O’Brien. “These tones echo the regionโs changing seasons, from the earthy glow of fall to quiet, misty mornings along the river. Each palette was designed to evoke nostalgia and a lived-in feeling, while remaining versatile enough for modern interiors.”
By channeling the regionโs charmโits history, its landscape, its quilted cozinessโRuggable has crafted a collection that invites you to step inside and stay awhile.
