Clock DVA formed in the steel town of Sheffield in 1978 as the kindred souls of such contemporary UK acts as Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, and the Human League. The group’s debut, White Souls in Black Suits (1980), and its likewise dark successors, Thirst (1981) and Advantage (1983), are influential industrial/goth-crossover classics; a clutch of albums by different lineups followed and a new Clock DVA set is slated for release in 2019. The Anti-Group (TAG) is Newton’s more experimental multimedia side project, and utilizes video and found sound to create immersive performances.
