Hudson Valley Rail Trails
Throughout the region
Where the region’s many criss-crossing train lines once ran, a remarkable transformation has taken place over the past 25 years. Derelict relics of the 19th century industry and transportation have been turned into a series of linear parks that make the Hudson Valley a walker, biker, jogger, skiier’s paradise. The Empire State Trail, a network that includes many Hudson Valley rail trails, is the US’s longest multi-use state trail, stretching 750 miles across New York State, connecting New York City to Canada and Albany to Buffalo, featuring sections like the Erie Canalway Trail and Hudson River Greenway. The Hudson Valley’s own rail trails spread hundreds of miles and, after a fresh snowfall, are an epic place to cross-country ski.

Olana, Hudson Valley Rail Trails, North South Lake, Art Omi are good spots.
