In 2022, local resident Dan Getman bought the 17-acre property on Towpath Road that includes the swimming spot dubbed Deep Hole in hopes of restoring it to the once peaceful and quiet destination that he grew up swimming at. With a new parking lot and a privy system planned, the now-nonprofit sanctuary hopes to preserve the spot for years to come.
