Pass the estrogen, please: Itโ€™s Female-Empowerment Week here in the Daily Doseโ€™s music section. On Tuesday I posted about next weekโ€™s โ€œLadies of the Valleyโ€ concert in Bearsville, and today weโ€™re here to talk about Norwegian all-gal garage pop quintet the Cocktail Slippers, who headline tomorrowโ€™s monthly SmashCrashBash!! party at the Half Moon in Hudson.

Rocketing out of the rock โ€™nโ€™ roll city (?) of Oslo, the group cites Blondie, the Shangri-Las, Joan Jett, the Ramones, and the Beach Boys as their main musical influences. The band recently released its fourth album, People Talk, on Little Steven Van Zandtโ€™s label, Wicked Cool Records, and have gotten heavy airplay on his popular radio show, โ€œLittle Stevenโ€™s Underground Garage.โ€ Sharing tomorrow nightโ€™s bill are New Hampshire mod/power pop unit the Connection and DJs Chris Bishop and Jeff the Chef, who will spin heaping helpings of punk, garage rock, rock โ€™nโ€™ roll, and old-school R&B.

In this live clip, the Cocktail Slippers play โ€œSoul Salvation,โ€ with an intro by Little Steven himself:

SmashCrashBash!! starring the Cocktail Slippers and the Connection will kick off at the Half Moon in Hudson, New York, at 9pm on November 7. Admission is $6.
