Poet, filmmaker, photographer, and longtime Andy Warhol associate Gerard Malanga will perform as part of an evening being presented on October 11 by Notice Recordings at Time and Space Limited (TSL) in Hudson.
Malanga, now a Hudson resident, was Warholโs assistant and collaborator for seven years in the 1960s during the peak of the scene surrounding the Factory, the artistโs downtown creative space, and is legendary for accompanying the Velvet Underground as a dancer during their groundbreaking live performances. He has authored or been featured in 24 books of poetry, his most recent books being 2021’s The New Melancholia & Other Poems (Bottle of Smoke Press) and 2019โs Cool & Other Poems. His portrait photography has produced some of pop cultureโs most recognizable images, and in 1969 he and Warhol cofounded Interview magazine. For the event, Malanga will read several poems and show film.
Also appearing as part of the program are New York poet No Land (accompanied by guitarists Bentley Anderson and Oliver Ray) and the New York improvisational Drew Wesely/Kevin Murray Duo.
Gerard Malanga, No Land with Bentley Anderson and Oliver Ray, and the Drew Wesely/Kevin Murray Duo will perform at Time and Space Limited (TSL) in Hudson on October 8 at 7pm. Tickets are $20 (students and TSL members $18). For more information, visit the TSL website.
