ArtPort Kingston continues to shake up the local scene with an ambitious new project designed to make art accessible around the clock. 24/7 Gallery, a dynamic, public-facing art space, is opening its doors (or, more accurately, its windowed foyer) in the heart of midtown Kingston at 80 Smith Avenue on March 1 with the spring show “Garden of Delights.”
In an era where the world can feel chaotic, art has been a steadying force—something that offers not just beauty but comfort, connection, and even escape. The new gallery space, in a former can and bottle return center, is breaking down the traditional barriers of museum and gallery hours, turning art into a spontaneous experience that’s always available. With exhibitions running continuously in a windowed foyer, 24/7 Gallery allows anyone passing by to engage with contemporary art, day or night.
This innovative space will feature both local and international artists, providing a platform for experimentation in an unconventional format. Art lovers, casual passersby, and anyone curious about what’s happening in the art world can stop by anytime, no tickets required.
This move makes sense for the donor-supported ArtPort, which has always prioritized local artists and accessible art experiences. ArtPort founder Laurie de Chiara takes a strong curatorial angle with the shows presented at ArtPort Kingston and she prioritizes “art as inclusive experience.”
A native of New York City, de Chiara has worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, run her own gallery in Manhattan, and organized numerous shows and artistic collaborations in Berlin. ArtPort, based out of an enormous brick building on Kingston’s waterfront previously used to store PT boats, has always had the goal of gathering people together around art.
Other initiatives like ArtYard, ArtPod, ArtStream—and now 24/7—bring art out into the world, into public spaces where people can interact with works. With a space like 24/7 gallery, art won’t just be something you visit, it’ll be something you live with, every day. Keep an eye out on ArtPort’s Instagram for updates.

Love the events you’ve posted but puzzled as I get Chronogram digitally around February 8 and a number of features events are closing on that date or have closed. Can you explain?
