Joe Henry

Like his friends and collaborators Daniel Lanois and T-Bone Burnett, Grammy winner Joe Henry is a formidable double threat: a singer-songwriter who draws from a deep well of rich and varied music and a producer whoโ€™s worked with some of musicโ€™s most respected names. And, speaking of respected names, on December 9 Henry will perform at the home of the one-time home of one of the greatest: Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, as part of the late Band drummerโ€™s ongoing Midnight Ramble series.

Raised in Detroit, Henry established himself as a recording artist in the 1980s and โ€™90s via such albums as Shuffletown, Short Manโ€™s Room, and Trampoline, which exemplify his organic, alchemical, and quiet blend of country, soul, blues, folk, and jazz. As a producer, heโ€™s helped craft albums by Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Ani DiFranco, Joan Baez, and others.

Hereโ€™s a track from Henryโ€™s 14th and newest album, Thrum:
