The Hot Sardines

New York retro jazz band the Hot Sardines made for some scorched planks on the dance floor of Bard SummerScapeโ€™s Spiegeltent, and tomorrow night theyโ€™ll be back to get all you hip Hudson Valley hotโ€™cha hoofers kicking up your heels once again.

Formed by band leader and pianist Evan Palazzo and vocalist Elizabeth Bougerol in 2007 over a shared love of 1920s and โ€™30s jazz and pop, the pair began recruiting like-minded young players via Craigslist and soon became the talk and toast of the Lower East Side and Brooklyn scenes; from there it was onto a major slot at Lincoln Centerโ€™s Midsummer Nightโ€™s Swing festival, 17 sold-out nights at Joeโ€™s Pub, international tours, and an album deal with Decca/Universal Music Classics.

Hereโ€™s the band performing the peppy standard โ€œBei Mir Bist Du Schoenโ€:
