Tom Pacheco is one those mega-deep Hudson Valley music fixtures; a living link to Woodstockโs heady 1970s scene. This Saturday, the socially conscious singer-songwriter will deliver a seasonal โPeace Concertโ at the Rosendale Cafe.
A veteran of โ60s bands the Ragamuffins and Eurphoria, Pacheco has waxed a shelfful of revered albums and seen his songs performed by both the Band and a solo Rick Danko as well as Jefferson Starship, Richie Havens, and many others. After 10 years in Irelandโthe land of poetsโPacheco returned to the region and waxed the album many consider his best, 1997โs Woodstock Winter.
Here, he sings that albumโs โThe Hills of Woodstockโ back in 2011:

I met Tom way back in the 80’s back in Dublin Ireland, I was an engineer at the time. We got on great.
We recorded some great music together, his great music , firstly in Westland Studios, and thereafter in a small country music studio on the South side of the city. I really appreciated the music. I was looking for an acoustic guitar sound that would complement the lyrics and melody of Tom’s music. He was really generous allowing me to try new things, new mic techniques, new sounds… all was well until we met a bunch of people that Tom knew from back when, and then some. It all started to go to downhill thereafter, actually through no fault of either myself or Tom, but through a bunch of third party dipshits. We eventually went our separate ways, have not seen the man ever since, but I always remember those days with Tom Pacheco, and Good man and a great songwriter… keep ahead Tom in these difficult times….
