Giulia
60 Raymond Avenue, Poughkeepsie
From the team behind Arlington’s Spettro comes Giulia, a new Poughkeepsie restaurant that changes character as the day unfolds. During daylight hours, Giovanni Ilardi and Michael Purcell’s latest venture serves focaccia sandwiches, 16-inch New York-style pizzas, pastries, espresso, and gelato in a fast-casual setting. At night, the focus shifts to Italian-American comfort food: lasagna, meatballs in tomato sauce, baked pasta, and chicken Parmesan meant for sharing. Cocktails and small plates round out the evening menu. Drawing on Ilardi’s Sicilian heritage and the partners’ decades in Hudson Valley hospitality, Giulia brings an all-day dose of red-sauce nostalgia to Poughkeepsie’s Raymond Avenue.
Margaux Bar
83 Partition Street, Saugerties
Since opening in early September, Margaux has added a new note to Saugerties’s nightlife. The Partition Street bar, opened by Miss Lucy’s Kitchen owner Sarah Viator, pairs an inviting, art-filled interior with a drinks program built around classic cocktails and house creations. Guests can order a Manhattan or a Jungle Bird, alongside wine, local beer, and a substantial selection of low- and no-alcohol drinks. Food embraces both refinement and fun: pate, trout roe-topped chips, pimento cheese, macaroni and cheese, an ’Nduja chili dog, and even Cheetos. It’s a handsome neighborhood hangout with an easygoing streak. (Read our profile.)
Tomato Tomahto
520 Main Street, Margaretville
Anastassia and Noli Tsivy, the couple behind Oda Wine Garden and Sun & Soil Bottle Shop, have added an all-day Italian diner to Margaretville. Tomato Tomahto moves from breakfast through dinner, beginning with ricotta zeppole, pane fritto, and focaccia breakfast sandwiches before turning to mortadella-and-burrata sandwiches and Neo-Neapolitan pizza. Evening dishes include pappardelle with beef ragu, chicken Milanese, and an oversized ricotta ravioli dressed with sage cream, corn, and jalapeño. The mood is casual and family-friendly, the prices approachable, and the pleasures familiar. Save room for scratch-made soft serve in rotating flavors like limoncello-rosemary or black cocoa and charcoal, too. (Read our profile.)
Tavern at Liberty Farms
1440 Route 66, Ghent
The legendary Turnpike Inn on Route 66 in Ghent has begun its next chapter as The Tavern at Liberty Farms. Reimagined by the owners of the neighboring 600-acre organic farm, the former dive has been transformed into a cozy, farm-driven neighborhood restaurant with cocktails, local beer, and wine. The Tavern is currently welcoming diners with a limited, evolving bistro menu built around meat and produce raised on the farm; the full menu launches October 13. Sunday service will include brunch followed by a British-style roast featuring Liberty Farms meats and seasonal sides. The haunt survives, with dinner worth staying for.
Tlahco Taqueria
142 Main Street, Beacon
Tlahco Taqueria is expanding from Pleasant Valley to Beacon, taking over the former Tito Santana Taqueria at 142 Main Street on October 1. The new outpost comes from the family behind Tlahco and Casa Ortega, the Wappingers Falls restaurant known for pairing traditional and contemporary Mexican cooking. Beacon diners can expect Tlahco favorites including al pastor tacos, quesabirria, gorditas de chicharrón, cemitas poblanas, and jalapeno cheese dip, alongside margaritas and other cocktails. The arrival keeps the corner taqueria devoted to Mexican cooking while introducing a new menu and restaurant family to Main Street.
