Robert Burke Warren

To celebrate both the Man in Black and the publication of his new book, Cash on Cash: Interviews and Encounters with Johnny Cash, local musician and writer Robert Burke Warren will bring his beloved Johnny Cash Bash musical tribute revue back to Colony on October 1.

Touting โ€œa heaping helping of Cash classics, from โ€˜I Walk the Lineโ€™ to โ€˜A Boy Named Sueโ€™ to โ€˜Hurt,โ€™ and more,โ€ the show will have the genial Warren leading a crack band of area players and joined by special guest vocalists.

Described as โ€œa comprehensive collection of Johnny Cash interviews and stories, some never previously transcribed, culled from the 1950s through the early days of the new millennium, Cash on Cash charts a singular evolution. From hardscrabble Arkansas poor boy to rockabilly roustabout; international fame to drug addiction and disgrace; born again Christian to gimlet-eyed chronicler of spiritual darkness; TV and movie star to Nashville reject; redemption to loss and back again, several times.โ€ Woodstockโ€™s Golden Notebook bookstore will offer copies of the book for sale, which Warren will sign for purchasers. โ€œCome help us turn Colony into a cross between a roadhouse and a bookstore,โ€ says the author.

Robert Burke Warrenโ€™s Johnny Cash Bash will take place at Colony in Woodstock on October 1 at 8pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of show.
