You may recognize Brandy Burre from watching “The Wire.” Burre played Theresa D’Agostino, a flinty political consultant and campaign manager to mayoral aspirant Tommy Carcetti who also has some steamy sex scenes with bad boy cop Jimmy McNulty. If you live in Beacon, you might also have passed her on the street with her two kids.

Burre took a break from acting in her mid-30s and moved to Beacon to raise her two children. There she met documentarian Robert Greene (Fake It So Real), her neighbor, who was intrigued by Burre’s desire to break back into acting on the cusp of 40. Greene started filming Burre at her home and as she went on auditions. The domestic and professional roller coaster ride that followed are the basis of Greene’s latest film, Actress.

Actress will screen on Saturday, November 29 at Upstate Films in Woodstock. Burre and Greene will be present for a Q&A after the show.
