The first two weeks of January contain a stellium in Capricorn, and the second two weeks contain a stellium in Aquarius. A stellium is a cluster of three or more planets in one sign. Mercury, Venus, Mars, and the Sun are traveling as a pack for the whole month, eventually picking up Pluto, too. Aside from the indication of focused energy in specific parts of our lives, there will also be multiple planetary conjunctions. When two planets conjoin, a new cycle begins for that pair. With 10 conjunctions taking place this month (not counting lunar conjunctions), be intentional about your actions and words. The seeds you plant will bear fruit—the quality of that fruit depends on the seed.

Both Capricorn and Aquarius are ruled by Saturn, making these new cycles particularly consequential. In the case of Capricorn, we’ll want to start projects and relationships that demand integrity, accountability, and endurance. Capricorn frowns on the provisional and haphazard. No shortcuts allowed. Aquarius demands a departure from the status quo, ingenuity, and equanimity. Whatever you start during this time, keep in mind that these two Saturnian signs favor sobriety and commitment. The new Moon in Capricorn (a Sun-Moon conjunction) on January 18 is configured to the Capricorn stellium. No one expects you to set an intention at every conjunction this month, but if you set one during this new Moon, you’ll cover a lot of bases.

Antithetical to the rest of the month, we have a major, epoch-defining transit occurring on January 26. Nebulous, desultory, and enchanted Neptune leaves ethereal Pisces for the fiery realms of Aries. This begins a 14-year process dedicated to exploring the fantasies and realities of sovereignty, war, and spirituality. We’ll also experience radical shifts to our relationship with masculinity, adrenaline, and speed.
