Golden Hour Books in Newburgh Moves to Wireworks Building Golden Hour Books is turning a page this season with a move to the Wireworks building on South William Street in Newburgh. The independent bookstore, previously perched above the river on Broadway, has relocated to a larger storefront just off the courtyard—a shift that allows owner Angie Venezia to expand both inventory and programming.

With the added space, Venezia plans to grow key sections—including sci-fi, fantasy, YA, art and architecture, urban planning, travel, Spanish and bilingual, and LGBTQIA titles—as well as host more events. The new location will support additional author readings, children’s programming, and local collaborations like an upcoming Bread & Books gathering with Lodger on July 12. Golden Hour also continues to serve as a meeting place for book clubs, including a new partnership with CAI Newburgh’s Jewish Book Club, and offers discounts to groups who purchase through the shop.

Golden Hour’s new space combines warm brick walls and custom shelving to invite browsing, reading, and connection.

Designed and custom-built by Venezia’s partner Reed Loar, the new space incorporates expanded seating and a dedicated children’s area, reinforcing the bookstore’s role as a neighborhood hub. A new stockroom and display space will also make room for curated non-book offerings, from stationery and notebooks to locally made goods by Bloom and Little Batch Candle Co.

Golden Hour’s move was made possible through a collaboration with Wireworks’ Sisha Ortuzar, and Venezia says the transition represents both an opportunity to deepen its roots in the creative business corridor around Liberty and South William Streets.

Save the date for Golden Hour’s Grand Re-Opening on Friday, June 27 at 6pm. Folks can browse the new space and enjoy wood-fired pizza from Promises Kept, served in the courtyard.
