Krishna Das never set out to become the best-known voice of devotional chanting in the Western world. He helped introduce millions of listeners to kirtan—the call-and-response chanting tradition of bhakti yoga—through a career that has spanned more than three decades, Grammy-nominated albums, and sold-out performances around the globe. On August 16, he’ll bring that practice to the Woodstock Festival of Awakening (August 14-16), a gathering at the Bearsville Theater.
