To this music head/crap collector, few daytime events are more rock ’n’ roll than a flea market. What, an opportunity to poke through dusty tables and moldy boxes for more scratchy, old records and weird junk to bring back to the cave? I’m there. So something called the Kingston Rock ’n’ Roll Flea Market, which happens this Saturday, May 18, certainly has my attention.

The event promises more than 75 vendors, most of them from throughout the Hudson Valley. Among those set to sell are Pop’s Tattoo of Kingston (tattoo-inspired art prints), Redline T-shirts (vintage hot rod shirts), Pulp Sushi (handmade jewelry), Darkside Records (records and CDs), and Zanti Jewelry (monster jewelry!). Other dealers will specialize in comic books, vintage clothing, horror collectibles, one-of-a-kind art, and much more.

But besides aiding the cause of ephemera-hoarding, this locally sustainable gala will also help the Kingston Police Athletic League’s boxing program by donating a portion of the entrance fee to the organization. So you can feel good about yourself as you dig up yet more tchotchkes for your shelves.

The Kingston Rock ’n’ Roll Flea Market takes place at Murphy Center, 467 Broadway, Kingston, on Saturday, May 18, from 10am to 5pm. Admission is $3. Vendor spaces are still available. For more information, visit Rocknrollfleamarket.com.
