Much like how bigger artists have wrested control of their music from the majors by forming their own labels, increasingly bands that get big enough have been grabbing the pie back from promoters by starting their own music festivals. To whit: Palenville’s world-conquering Felice Brothers, who are launching an event they’ve dubbed the Felice County Fair this month.

Taking place on the grounds of the magnificent Opus 40 sculpture park, this guaranteed-to-rollick blow-out stars, in addition to the namesake headliners, a solid cast of several of the Woodstock area’s most beloved acts: Amy Helm, Marco Benevento, Connor Kennedy, and Paul Green Rock Academy All Stars. The Felice County Fair kicks of on August 31 at noon at Opus 40 in Saugerties. Children under 10 are free. For tickets and details, visit
